Intersecting Voices
This typographic poster series focuses on creating visually captivating posters using typography to communicate the significance of individuals' contributions to poetry. It aims to develop a unified design system that merges diverse elements while also infusing creativity to engage viewers and convey meaning effectively. The original prompt, Lyrical Landscapes, was used as a starting point to dive deeply into these artists in order to have a thorough understanding of their connection to the world of poetry.
RESEARCH
To begin, research was done on each poet to determine what makes these three so special, but better yet, so connected.

SKETCHING
To begin, sketching was done in sets of three. There are many ways to explore the prompt Lyrical Landscapes, so a wide variety of concepts were explored.

PHYSICAL TYPE MANIPULATION
After sketching, paper was manipulated and photographed to further explore overlapping text.

DIGITAL IDEATIONS: PATTI SMITH
The previous images were then further manipulated in the computer and added with digital elements.

REDIRECTED IDEATIONS
These pieces were used to physically manipulate typography. Photographs of the collages were imported into digital software and distorted further.

ASSET DEVELOPMENT
Individual pieces of the collages were added on to the photographs of the physical collages. This resulted in the final black and white compositions seen below.

COLOR & TYPOGRAPHY
Color and typography were then chosen based on each poet's poetry and personality. The common theme of each of them is their boldness, so a bold font and bold color palettes were chosen to complement that.
